My guest blogger today is my BESTEST bloggy friend, Bella with Bella Before and After.  I LOVE YA BELLA!!!

Hey AliLilly fans, I'm Bella, and as always, I am so happy to be guest posting over here. I love my girl Ami, and I'm so excited to bring you guys a little tutorial on how to turn a baby shower invitation into a beautiful cake.
Just want to remind all of you that along with writing on my main blog : Bella Before and After, I have created a new blog to share some of our cakes with all of you. My mom and I bake cakes, and I just wanted a fun place to show off some of our creations, and hopefully inspire you as well.

Pregnant Belly Cake Tutorial

At this point I didn't glue anything down yet. It still needed to be easily transferred to the finished cake. Once you have it on the cake , and are happy with the placement of everything, you just need to dab a little water to make everything stick, like glue. Be careful not to add too much, or else the fondant will slide.

Also you will notice everything is really powdery at this stage. You need to keep everything dusted well, so it doesn't stick, but once you are finished assembling the cake, you can steam the fondant, or use a paintbrush to paint it with water (slightly) and this will take care of all that powder, along with making everything shine.

Do you want to see the finished cake?
It is so pretty, I really love the way it turned out.
Make sure to stop by and take a look.

Guest Blogger To Sew With Love

My guest blogger today is Lelanie of To Sew With Love.  She is a wonderful friend of mine.  She's incredibly sweet and supportive.  She made Alie the most ADORABLE summer dress with TONS of accessories.  I can't wait to get some pictures of Alie wearing it to share with y'all.

Hi there, lovely AliLilly readers!
I am Lelanie of the blog
We post a lot of our sewing projects on the blog, mostly for our kids.

We also host a weekly
a monthly

a fun contest

and lots of

Today, we will be sharing a quick card and note pad holder tutorial. All you need are:
Linen or cotton fabric pieces:
2 pcs. 6.25" x 10"
4 pcs. 6.25" x 3.25"
lace (optional)
elastic and button (or velcro)
label (optional)
interfacing (optional)
If you decide to use some interfacing, iron it on each fabric piece before proceeding to the sewing steps. The interfacing, however, is optional. The one I made did not have any interfacing on because I did not have any on hand at that time. Although, i would have wanted to use interfacing. It will yield a prettier card holder, believe me! It will make a lot of difference!
Get your card pocket pieces and bring them together, right sides together, aligning the edges well. Sew straight stitches.
Turn the piece inside out and topstitch.
Align the unsewn side of the card pocket to one of the short sides of one of the bigger fabric piece. Attach your card pocket to the fabric by sewing basting stitches on the sides and the bottom side of the card pocket piece. Take the center of the pocket piece and sew straight stitches on the center.
Get the remaining pocket pieces and with both fabric right sides together, sew straight stitches on both of the longer sides. Turn it inside out and topstitch on one of the longer side.
Pin it on where it should be sewn on, the topstitch side should be the on the top.
Sew the sides with basting stitches while the bottom with straight stitches with backtracks. Determine where your notepad should go and sew straight stitches to divide your pocket.
So, we have this as of now.
Place the remaining bigger piece on top of the piece where you have sewn your pockets. Both fabric pieces should be wrong sides together. Fold them the way your card holder would be folded when finished to determine where you'd have to sew on the lace. Once you've determined the spot, pin your lace in place.
Flip the card holder to determine where your button should go (or your velcro if you've decided to have velcro as closures)
Sew the lace on.
Sew the button on.
Sew the label on.
You will now have these two pieces. Do not forget to pin the elastic band on the top.
With the pieces right sides together, sew straight stitches on all sides leaving 3" or so unsewn so you could turn the fabrics later.
Clip all sides/edges.
Turn the fabric inside out and topstitch.
Now, you have a card holder with two pockets for your contact cards, one pocket for a memo card, one pocket for a small pen or a usb.
One side...
And the other side.

I hope you liked our quick tutorial. Come and visit our blog for more tutorials.
And thank you, sweet Ami, for having us here!
Hugs,
