Can I tell y'all I'm really excited about how this came out. I wasn't really sure where I was going with this when I started. I just began making rosettes, knowing I wanted to make the letters S-P-R-I-N-G out of them. Once I was done, I thought they may look nice on a piece of scrap paper. Then, trying to figure out how I would place them on the wall, I thought I should glue the paper to a piece of cardboard. But then, thinking how the cardboard would look on the wall, I decided to piece it together as if it was a piece of wood. Glued everything together and that is how I got this sign.
Let me show you first how I did the letters. I traced and cut out the letters from an empty cereal box.
Then, I covered the letters with the same color tissue paper as the rosettes I planned to use.
Then I glued on my rosettes I made using this tutorial here. Once my letters where done I glued them to some scrap paper. I had to use two sheets. I thought that the seam and repeat of the pattern would drive me crazy but it really doesn't. I just flipped the second sheet the other direction. I really like how it looks pieced together.
I measured and cut up my box.
Hot glued it all together.
Glued my the sign on to the box. I used hot glue and white school glue of the edges.
Then I chose a corresponding color to this paper, measured, cut and glued it to the edge pieces.
For the hanger I used a little trick I learned from my SIL Teresa with Get Nestled In. When you don't have any picture or plate hangers lying around use a paper clip!
Now, I quickly hung it up and snapped a few shots.
This is how the sides look.
This is my New SPRING sign at home above my faux mantel.
I am SO HAPPY with how it came out. I mean, you can't beat FREE!! An empty box, some scrap paper I already had, a paper clip, some rosettes made from left over tissue paper and a few glue sticks and VIOLA a new Spring Sign! I LOVE IT! Alie said "Oh ee-ssoe pretty, Momma." What you do you think??
I am linking up to these awesome parties!
